Notification center and email delivery

Set up the platform SMTP connection and send a test email, follow the delivery log and retry failed deliveries, version notification templates and manage suppressed addresses.

AdministratorLast updated: Open in panel

The Notification center screen manages the platform's email delivery. Customer, reseller and administrator notifications (alarms, 5651 seal failures, device offline, subscription and payment, agreements) are always written to the panel inbox; email goes out with the settings on this screen. For users' own preferences see Notifications and email preferences.

SMTP settings

The E-mail (SMTP) tab works with any provider's SMTP server (there is no provider-specific API). If the status at the top is not Ready to send, the missing part is shown.

  • Transport: SMTP, Mock (no real email; test environments only) or disabled. Mock cannot be used in production.
  • Security: STARTTLS (587) or TLS (465). Unencrypted connections are for development only.
  • Server, port, user name, password, sender address / name and reply-to address. The password is stored encrypted and shown masked; if you save without changing it, the old password is kept.

Settings saved in the panel take precedence over the server environment variables. Publish SPF, DKIM and DMARC records for your sender domain from your provider's panel; without them emails end up in the spam folder.

The test email is real

Send test sends a real email to the address you enter and asks for confirmation; you can send at most 5 tests in 15 minutes. The result is also written to the delivery log.

While SMTP is disabled or incomplete, notifications keep appearing in the panel; emails stay pending and are sent automatically once the settings are complete (within 72 hours).

Delivery log

The Delivery log shows every email and SMS delivery: time, type, channel, masked recipient and status. You can filter by status and channel.

Status Meaning
Pending Waiting to be sent, or will be retried after a temporary error
Sent Accepted by the provider
Failed Retry limit reached or permanently rejected by the recipient
Suppressed Address is on the suppression list, no email sent
Skipped User is inactive or has no address

Temporary errors are retried at intervals growing from minutes to hours. You can put a failed or suppressed row back in the queue with Retry. Sender-side configuration errors (SMTP authentication, SPF / DMARC rejection) never suppress the recipient's address. Delivery records are kept for 90 days.

Templates

On the Templates tab you edit the subject and text of each notification type in the six panel languages. Only the variables listed in the Variables: line of that type can be used; HTML cannot be added and variables are escaped.

  1. Choose the type and language, then edit the subject and text.
  2. Use Preview to see it with sample values. An undefined variable or wrong syntax fails here.
  3. Save with Save new version and publish it from the version list with Activate.

Versions never change; you can reactivate an older version or go back to the built-in text with Revert to default. Pending deliveries are sent with the version that was active when they were created.

Suppression list

The Suppression list lists addresses that bounced permanently, marked an email as spam or were added by hand. No email goes to these addresses; panel notifications continue. An address is suppressed after three temporary bounces.

  • Suppress: suppresses an address by hand.
  • Remove: turns sending back on once the address is fixed.

Suppressed addresses are stored as a blind index, not as plain text, and appear masked in the list.
