Notifications and email preferences

Use the panel notification inbox, choose which notifications also arrive by email and learn which ones are mandatory; resellers set up sub-customer notifications.

CustomerLast updated: Open in panel

Hotspotly writes important events on your account (device offline, 5651 seal failure, subscription ending, payment failure, a new agreement version, low SMS credit, a guest waiting for approval) as a panel notification and, depending on your preferences, also sends an email. A notification appears at most a few minutes after the event.

Notification inbox

The bell in the top bar shows the number of unread notifications and refreshes every minute. Press it to see the latest five; pressing one marks it as read and takes you to the related page. All notifications or the Notifications page in the menu opens the whole inbox:

  • On the Inbox tab, the Unread only filter shows only unread items.
  • Mark one notification with Mark as read, or all of them with Mark all as read.
  • Each team member sees only their own notifications. Most notifications go to the account owner; device and 5651 log silence notifications also go to managers, guest approval notifications also go to the front desk (Panel users).

Panel notifications are kept for 180 days.

Email preferences

In the Notification preferences table on the Preferences tab you turn email on or off per category:

Category Example Email
Security System alarms, two-factor grace period reminder Mandatory
5651 / Legal 5651 seal / timestamp failure, log silence, new agreement version Mandatory
Billing Subscription ending reminder, payment failure, SMS credit / quota, reseller renewal reminder On
Devices Device offline / back online On
Product General information On
Guest approvals Guest waiting for approval Off

The Panel column is always on: even with email turned off, the notification lands in your inbox. Categories marked Mandatory cannot have email turned off. Notifications that affect the service, such as a payment failure or the subscription entering its grace period, being suspended or being closed, arrive by email even if the category preference is off.

SMS

SMS is sent only for critical alarms and outside quiet hours. On a customer account it is charged to your SMS credit.

Emails go to the address in your profile. If the address bounces permanently or you mark an email as spam, sending to that address stops; panel notifications continue. Open a support ticket to have sending turned back on.

Reseller: sub-customer notifications

In the reseller panel the Sub-customer notifications card sits under the Preferences tab. You choose how device, 5651 and subscription notifications for your customers reach you:

  • Panel and e-mail: your email preferences above apply.
  • Panel only: they only land in your inbox.
  • Off: you do not receive that customer's notifications; critical alarms still land in your inbox.

Default applies to all your customers; in Per customer you can choose a different mode for a single customer. This setting does not affect the customer's own recipients.
