Page rules (SSID, time, device)
Show a different login page and method order by SSID, time, language or new/returning device, and preview the login and post-login pages separately.
A hotspot can use several looks instead of one design. For example, username login only on the staff SSID, and SMS plus click-through on the guest SSID. A rule picks the look of a published version and orders or hides login methods.
In this guide
- Adding rules and setting their order.
- Previewing the login and post-login pages with the simulator.
- Previewing one rule without its conditions.
Before you start
- The hotspot needs at least one published design version: Login page design.
- SSID / interface conditions need up-to-date router files. If the panel says re-provisioning is needed, repeat Portal provisioning. Server name and router identity conditions work right away.
Add a rule
- On Hotspots, press Design on the hotspot row.
- Open the Rules tab and press Add rule.
- Choose the conditions (SSID / interface, server name, router, day, time, language, device) and the version to use.
- Save. Rules are tried from top to bottom and the first match wins. Change the order with the arrows or by dragging.
Device condition
"New" and "returning" device are evaluated only when trusted-device memory is on and the guest's MAC address is known. When it is unknown, a rule with a device condition does not match and the next rule is tried.
Preview
Enter a guest context in the simulator under the Rules tab. The preview on the right shows the page the guest would see, drawn by the same renderer on the server.
- Use Page to choose the login page or the post-login landing/status page. The post-login page is drawn with the matching rule's version.
- The eye icon on a rule row (Preview this rule) applies that rule without evaluating its conditions. Press it again, or Clear in the simulator, to go back to normal evaluation.
A rule is not a security boundary
SSID and server name arrive through the guest's browser. Hidden methods are also rejected on the server, but rely on a separate SSID / VLAN setup on the router to restrict access.
