Sessions and disconnecting

See connected guests, end a session, block or exempt a device with IP binding, and learn which actions drop a guest automatically.

CustomerLast updated: Open in panel

When a guest signs in, the router opens a hotspot session and writes its duration, traffic and IP to the RADIUS accounting record (used for Law 5651). This page explains where to see sessions and how to drop a guest.

See connected guests

  • Dashboard: the Active Sessions box shows how many guests are online across your hotspots; the chart shows session counts for recent days.
  • Hotspot detail → Host Table tab: the devices the router sees right now (Active Hosts), with IP, MAC and uptime. The list is read live from the router; refresh it with Refresh. If the router cannot be reached the list stays empty.

Drop a guest

Ways to drop a guest from the customer panel:

Way Effect
Delete the account on Users The open session is dropped on the router; the account cannot sign in again.
Revoke the voucher batch All sessions opened with those codes are dropped. See Vouchers.
Revoke a trusted device The open session continues; the guest signs in again next time.
Add a blocked IP binding The device (MAC) cannot connect to the hotspot at all.

The platform administrator can also end a single session with Terminate on the Sessions page (see below).

IP binding: block or exempt

The IP Binding tab on the hotspot detail page manages the router's IP binding list:

  • bypassed: the device goes online without seeing the login page (cash register, camera, staff computer). Its traffic is not tied to a guest login, so the 5651 record has no identity match; use it only for your own devices.
  • blocked: the device cannot connect to the hotspot.
  • regular: normal hotspot rules.

The Quick Add IP Binding button on the Host Table tab adds a listed device to the bindings with one click.

Automatic disconnects

In the following cases the system drops open sessions by itself. A RADIUS Disconnect (UDP 3799, inside the VPN tunnel) is tried first; if the router does not answer and the device is known, the /ip hotspot active entry is removed through the RouterOS API.

  • The guest account expired.
  • The account, hotspot or device was deleted.
  • A check-out arrived from the hotel PMS.
  • The customer subscription was suspended or expired.
  • A voucher batch was revoked.

If Disconnect does not work

A router set up with an old setup script may not accept RADIUS Disconnect requests; the drop then happens through the API fallback, or the session ends when its own time runs out. Re-applying the setup script fixes this: Device problems.

Administrator: sessions page

The Sessions page in the admin panel lists every customer's sessions: User, IP, MAC, Start, Duration and status. The buttons at the top filter All Sessions, Active Sessions or Closed sessions.

Terminate ends the session through the RouterOS API. If the router cannot be reached the action fails and the session stays open; the record is not closed because the guest may still be online.
